Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults

This qualification is designed to support the development of registered managers of adult social care services.

The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to work in adult social care and to have responsibility for leading and managing a service. This will include managing and improving care and support for individuals accessing the service, supporting and developing the workforce, and driving the vision for their service or organisation.

It is aimed at all those who wish to work, or are already working in, health and social care settings in England.

Who is this qualification suitable for?

This qualification is most suitable for those working in a managerial role in adult care settings who are looking to progress their career. It is also appropriate for managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at level 5.

Entry requirements

There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners will need to be at least 19 years of age and may find it helpful if they have already achieved a level 3 qualification.

Qualification structure

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve a minimum of 95 credits: 80 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 15 credits from the optional units.

Assessment method

This qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured.

Duration

This qualification is typically completed in 8 to 10 months.

Work placement requirement

Learners will need to be working in a managerial role in an appropriate setting to be able to study for the Level 5 Diploma in Leading and Managing an Adult Care Service as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
